Today at General Conference wasn't very exciting today. They have had worship services along with some orientation sessions for some of the delegates.
There were some discussions about HIV/AIDS policies, poverty, health and wellness within the UMC. On the General Conference website, are listed goals for poverty, global health, new and renewed congregations and for Christian leadership. I wonder how they came up with some of the percentages for some of the programs. These are good goals, but I hope they aren't being unrealistic with some of the goals and how do they measure some of the goals.
Conservative Judicial Council members need to be elected. I believe that five will be elected. The JC can basically overrule the Book of Discipline principles especially if they aren't very clear. The General Conference needs to elect conservative members so they will uphold the Book of Discipline.
Today at Birthright was very uneventful today. We are a few clients wanting formula. WIC (Women Infant Children) that provides formula vouchers has cut down on the amount of formula that they receive. They get enough for 2 weeks per month. We have had lots of formula requests since they changed. Some of our clients need to learn to budget their food stamp money. We just try to love them.
Dd did her school work while I finished mowing the yard. I'm glad I got it done because it will be raining tonight. We have a very high chance of severe weather tonight and tomorrow. Too bad the kids will not be able to play outside. At least my flowers will get watered.
God Bless,
Amy
